SEARCHING FOR AN ADOPTEE
We are always shocked when somebody tells us
they ran an adoptee search, searching for birth son or birth daughter,
and they
only have the name given the Adoptee at birth, and not the NEW
Adoptee name ...
Let's get this out of the way
first... The original name given an Adoptee
at birth is usually of NO USE in finding the Adoptee now! Their
complete identity has been changed.
The only time a "first name", and
"date of birth", comes into play is when the birth child was
adopted around three years old, and has been called the name given
at birth. In that case, sometimes we can run a "Name &
Date-of-Birth Search", getting us leads that possibly will have
the adopted name listed.
What you know when you start a Search for a birth child is
usually their date of birth, and place of birth. Once you give
that information to us, we have our methods of getting the rest of
the needed information, and completing your Adoptee Search.
Knowing the Hospital where the Child was born is nice, but
usually of no use. Either the Hospital has destroyed the records,
due to the length of time since the birth, or they just do not
have anything in the records telling the Adoptee's Name. So, from
them, you learn nothing.
In 43 of the
50 States - You have NO RIGHTS to find your son or daughter.
The Private Adoption Agency, the
County Adoption Agency, or the Court often seem like an "enemy" -
they are of little or no help.

Starting Without The Name
Over
65% of our adoption search cases are solved without having to go beyond
the investigative procedures we perform for a
normal adoption search. However, if the Adoption Search Bureau is
unable to get the Adoptee's Name through the normal adoption
search, then we have to implement additional procedures to obtain
the name we need to successfully complete the search.
